Thailand Elephants | Thai Holidays

Elephants are a part of Thai tradition, life and culture. Near Chiang Mai there is an elephant camp where the elephants are looked after where tourists can come and visit them. In other places you can see the elephants in their natural environment. Phuket and Pattaya are both popular places for tourists to go to where they can enjoy riding on elephants. Children love this experience of riding on elephants.

Elephants are beautiful gentle creatures. Our advice is to wear comfortable clothing because after riding them for sometime you can become uncomfortable. Ask if you are going to go down to the river you might need comfortable shoes to protect your feet.

The keepers of the elephants are called Mahouts. The difference between African and Thai elephants is the size of their ears. Asian elephants have smaller ears and in general smaller. Their skin is smoother as well.
